Ingredients?

As a precaution, please do a small test area with all our products before applying for long durations. SafetyTat® skin-safe temporary tattoos should only be applied to intact skin and on those individuals who do not have skin sensitivity.

Our water-applied Original SafetyTat tattoo comprises a hypoallergenic non-breathable appliqué film bearing non-toxic F.D.A. compliant adhesives.  The ink used is standard digital toner (non-F.D.A. approved) fused to one layer of appliqué film and encapsulated between another layer of appliqué film, and so the fused toner does not come in contact with skin.

Our Quick Stick Write-On! tattoo comprises a hydrophilic, breathable and hypoallergenic appliqué bearing non-toxic F.D.A. compliant adhesive and ink, and the included tattoo marking pen contains non-toxic ink.

Both our temporary tattoo products are latex-free and gluten-free. They contain no Lead, Phthalates, DINP, DnOP, DBP, BBP, DnHP, DIDP, DEHP, Asbestos, Cadmium, or Mercury.  The products are suitable for contact with intact skin for short-term application up to 29 days. Both products have been tested and deemed safe by an independent laboratory and to ensure compliance with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act).

Should I add my child’s name to his ID tattoo?

We recommend not including your children’s names on their SafetyTat tattoos as an advised safety precaution. We do not want strangers to know your child’s name and potentially lure them away.

How long will my Quick Stick Write-on! SafetyTat child id tattoos last?

Quick Stick Write-On! SafetyTat child ID tattoos will last up to two weeks, or until you are ready to remove it. Quick Stick Write-On! is a skin applique “sticker” and is our most durable child ID safety tattoo.

Your body heat activates the adhesive. The longer it’s on, the stickier it becomes. The most important steps to ensure durability are to make sure your SafetyTat is properly applied, and to avoid sunscreen, lotion and bug spray on or near your SafetyTat child ID tattoos. Quick Stick Write-on! and all our Tateck® products are UV coated, so skin will not burn beneath the tattoo.

If stored properly in mild temperature and in the provided re-sealable bag, your unused SafetyTat tattoos can be successfully applied for up to one year.

How long will my Original Water Apply SafetyTat child ID tattoos last?

We recommend a new water-applied Original style SafetyTat tattoo each day. Original SafetyTat child ID tattoos will last between 1-3 days, depending on where or how they’re used. Swimming in chlorinated water tends to be tougher on the ‘Tats.

The most important steps to ensure durability are to make sure your SafetyTat is properly applied, and completely dry before you touch, rub or contact with clothing (or sheets/blankets), and to avoid sunscreen, lotion and bug spray on or near your SafetyTat child ID tattoos.

Why doesn’t my Quick Stick Write-on! SafetyTat ID tattoo stick well to my child’s skin?

These tips may help. If not, just give us a call. We’ll figure it out together.

1.) Your child has sunscreen or lotion on his or her skin that must be removed prior to application. Too slippery! Please avoid using sunscreen and bug spray on or near your SafetyTat, as many brands will break down the adhesive and smear the pen marking. (note: if pen smears, simply remove the ink from face of tattoo with an alcohol wipe, let dry, then write again).

Quick Stick Write-on! is best applied before heading out for the day, when child’s skin is cool and dry.

2.) Make sure to allow the SafetyTat “set” to your (child’s) skin. Your body heat activates our adhesive. Holding the Quick Stick Write-on in place for about 20 seconds should do the trick. (It’s a great time to sing ABC’s or talk about the purpose of his/her SafetyTat child ID tattoo!)

Please be sure to test yours as soon as you receive them. If for any reason your tattoos don’t stick well, please contact us right away and we’ll figure out why or send you a new batch!

See our instructions page for more help.

Why does my Original SafetyTat feel sticky after I apply it?

If your tattoo still seems sticky after you have wet it thoroughly and slipped the paper off, simply add more water to the top. This “stickiness” is most likely residual adhesive from the protective water soluble paper you have removed. Also, it’s important to please let your SafetyTat tattoo dry thoroughly before coming in contact with clothing (or sheets/blankets…It is not recommended to apply a SafetyTat tattoo to your child just before their nap!).

Why doesn’t my Original SafetyTat ID tattoo stick well to my child’s skin?

We have found that if this occurs, it may be caused by one of two things: your child has sunscreen or lotion on his or her skin that must be removed prior to application. Too slippery! Please avoid using sunscreen on or near your SafetyTat, as many brands will break down the adhesive.

Secondly, and perhaps the most important step in the application of your SafetyTat, is to let the SafetyTat “set” to your (child’s) skin before saturating with WARM water. To do this, please, after removing the clear top layer, place on your child’s skin with your hand on top of it and let your body heat help set the adhesive to the skin for about 60 seconds (It’s a great time to sing ABC’s or talk about the purpose of his/her SafetyTat child ID tattoo!)

IMPORTANT: please be sure your SafetyTat tattoo is completely dry (this could take several minutes) before touching, rubbing or coming in contact with clothing (or sheets/blankets). This will help the durability considerably.

Also, if you feel your child might pick or rub his or her SafetyTat, consider applying it on a place on the arm that’s out of his/her sight, like the outside of the arm below the elbow. “Out of sight, out of mind!”

Last, since our orders are all produced individually by hand, there can be slight variation in the tattoo’s tack. Please be sure to test yours as soon as you receive them. If for any reason your tattoos don’t stick well, please contact us right away and we’ll send you a new batch!

See our instructions page for more help.

Do SafetyTat tattoos contain latex?

No. The adhesive is acrylic-based and does not contain latex. We suggest to please be cautious and do a small test area with your tattoos prior to applying for long durations.

Where should I apply the SafetyTat child ID tattoo on my child?

We suggest to apply in a visible spot, so it can be noticed right away to aid in your child’s speedy return to you. Apply the SafetyTat in an area on your child that won’t be exposed to too much wear and tear, and avoid areas with a lot of body hair. In warm weather, a good spot is the outside of the arm between the shoulder and elbow, so your child won’t be tempted to scratch it but it will be visible if it’s needed. In cold weather with long sleeves, a good spot is on the inside of the arm, just above the wrist. Just be careful to avoid lotion, sunscreen and bug spray on or near the Tat, as these can compromise the adhesive.

What is the difference between Original SafetyTat and Quick Stick Write-on!?

First, both products are:

  • Waterproof/Sweatproof
  • Non-toxic
  • Latex-free
  • Hypoallergenic

Original SafetyTat tattoos are much like novelty temporary tattoos for kids you have probably used or seen. SafetyTat customizes these tattoos for you. The safety tattoo is applied face down, then saturated with water to remove the backer paper. The Original SafetyTats are translucent once applied. Original SafetyTats last from 1-3 days. For best performance, we recommend applying a new Original SafetyTat each day.

Our Quick Stick Write-On! SafetyTat tattoos are different…and pretty amazing! They are blank/non-customized “skin appliques” or “skin stickers” that you customize yourself with the provided tattoo marking pen. They require no water to apply — simply peel and stick — “Quick Stick!” They are made of a micro thin, durable elastomer that is opaque when applied to skin and provides an ultra-safe barrier so no ink touches your child’s skin or bleeds through the tattoo when you write on it. Quick Stick Write-On child ID tattoos last up to 2 weeks!

BOTH are excellent solutions for your child’s safety.
